Post-Katrina problems

Katrina wasn't kind to my tomatoes, even though I live far inland in middle TN. A few tops were broken by wind -- the system was still at Tropical Storm force when it got here, a historical first. But the big problem, I think, was the 6-8 inches of rain we got in about 10 hours. One day afterward I started seeing wilting on previously huge, healthy plants, and now about 80% are wilting beyond resuscitation. Anybody have a notion what the problem is?
