I know this post is an old one, but do you still know anyone that sells vermiculite in the Orlando area? Everywhere I go doesn't carry it anymore. For what reason, no one can tell me. Thanks for your help!

I don't have exact prices... but the Urban Sunshine store carries Vermiculite and Pro-Mix, which is peat mixed with 15% vermiculite. My 3.8 Cu ft of Pro-Mix & 4 cu ft of vermiculite came to about $60. They have 3 stores in Orlando & 1 in Daytona. Their website is www.urbansunshine.com. They will deliver, but delivery charges were high. I got it at the South Orange Ave store in August, 2012

I'm ready to add soil to my three raised beds 4x16...I've heard a good mix is 1/3 compost, 1/3 regular soil, 1/3 vermiculite...is that correct? What would you recommend? Judging by "bettyjo florida's" post, it seems like that would get pretty expensive...

The current recomendation for the "Mel's Mix" used in Square Foot Gardening is 1/3 compost, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1/3 peat (or something like coir, perilite but peat is recommended).
