I added extra support to my peony rings by making a 4" grid across them with coat hanger wire. (Yes, my hands hurt for a while afterward!) This kept the peonies from flopping to one side of the ring. The key is to get the ring out early enough and keep the growing foliage from getting tangled in the grid.

It sounds as though your peonies are quite tall so I'm not sure it will be as helpful for you, but you might want to give it a try next year.

3 - 4 Bamboo stakes (green coloured) should be place in the ground and then tie a piece of string (I used brown string)in a round and then zig zag pattern. Do this while the plant is small so once it grows, the stake will disappear. So do this next spring.
