What's with the Bradford Pears ?
I know they;re a weak tree, but so pretty in the Spring, and such a beautiful shape....I don't have one, but thought about it....

Bradford Pears are weak wooded. Just about the time they become a reasonable size for the landscape, they start falling apart. They are notorious for this, and this is probably their biggest downfall.

They are sooooooo common. Who wants to see another one of these when there are so many better and more original choices?

They are listed as an invasive weed in many locations and as a possible invasive weed threat here in Tennessee.

The blossoms stink. It's not something you want up close to your home because of this smell and because of the possible danger caused by the week wood.

The bottom line is that they are not the worst plant in the world, but with so many better choices, it's hard to imagine why they are so common.
