Uggh What do I do with this wall?

This wall is located in my open family room. It measures 12 feet wide by 14.5 feet tall. Paintings? Shelves? tall vases? take it out all together? Help!!

I would take out the entire botton area so that it is more useful and uniform. then I would eliminate the walls to the arches and maybe have one large archway. Put in a bigger television and then create shelving around it for display items or books. If you really hate the whole thing I would then knock out all the interior elements. Add a long low shelf and put in a gel fireplace that ran horizontally and put the tv above it and then maybe a tryptic painting.

I would add some more divider/shelves to the tall open spaces to make them more useful, either as bookshelves or display shelves. I like the idea of shelving, but this space seems rather oddly configured to me in the shelf sizes and distribution to me.

If this is the wall where you plan to put your TV I would go with Christine's suggestion of knocking it out and revamping it. If it's not your tv wall then you could have a lot of fun with it, mirrors up top with glass shelves, or paint the recess areas different colors or all one color. If you are a collector this would make a fantastic display wall.
