Just a little curious about the gunnera seeds. Do they not take to scarification? Like my moon flower seeds, they say to nick them, then soak about an hour or so, then plant. I never thought rubbing alcohol would be appropriate for seeds, but then I am not an informed person. :)

I've never done gunnera seeds but I would concur that nicking... moonflower seeds makes the difference. I use a toe nail clipper and soak overnight in water(only).

With canna seeds, I scratch on 60 grit sandpaper until I start to see some white. The canna seeds get soaked for several days in water AND hydrogen peroxide until they start to puff up a bit.

Darryljurassic, i will try it with hydrogen peroxide. I trust it more since it is not a drying agent, makes things softer.
