Just to throw a dart in the dark, what about Euonymus fortunei? Sounds exactly like what you are describing except that it's leaves grow opposite (or subopposite) instead of alternating.

P.S. if anyone has ideas about how to ellimintate this stuff, bermuda grass, and poison ivy from the face of the Earth, please let me know.

Yes, I believe the yard weed I was describing is Euonymus, though the ones that occur in my yard seem to have smaller leaves. They may occur oppposite, I will have to look (did that description off the top of my head.)

The reason I ask is that I received a bright yellow and green, slightly larger plant that strongly resembles my yard weed. Any ideas what it might be? From what I see on the web, I think it could be this plant.

Does anyone remember bringing this to the MidTN Swap last week?

There are many varieties of euonymus, both variegated and non. Beware, they'll take over everything!

Many types are not nearly as invasive as the E.fortunei. I wouldn't worry as much about a bush form of Euonymus being invasive as I would the vine. Some, like burning bush are kinda nice, but some are just trashy invasive pests.
