stairs!

For the first time since I have owned this house it has a nice, wonderful, new, safe staircase with a handrail and a wall and everything!! I'm soooo excited! Pretty much all the work is now done inside, except the painting which I gotta do and a few little things. We have siding, caulked and primed, TRIM on ALL the windows, even the ones downstairs that haven't had trim since I bought the house, all the doors are trimmed, you can't see the ground from anywhere in the house now!! The plumber will be there Monday to hook up the sink and the kitchen floor will be installed at the same time. All I need is another refund and I can get the outside all finished too! Wow! It's amazing what a couple of guys can do with some wood and tools. LOL! When we get the painting done and everything where it belongs we'll have a big open house. I'm so excited!! :)

Congrats! I've been wondering about you. Hadn't seen you post in a while. Guess you've been too busy with the house to keep us updated on the garden!

Panama Red passion fruit, definitely dead. It bloomed its first bloom, the first week in December, right before the first freeze. I may try another one, one more time and fertilize much more regularly. Do you know if the same nursery (was it Sun-land) got any more in?

Now, we'll just pray for a quiet storm season and no more reckless workmen for you!

The Chronicle had an interesting article a few weeks ago about the carvings people are having done out of the trees that succumbed. Unfortunately, as usual, the Chronicle left the information I would have liked out: a map of the carvings to date... Have you seen/do you know if anyone has compiled a map as a sort of "Art Trail" yet?

I swear, this year, I'm going to look you up when we head to Galveston. After all you've been through, you deserve some sort of a house-warming gift!

Go to Galveston.com, there is a list of all the carvings and their locations. Some of them are really cool.

The freeze really hit us hard, what Ike didn't kill the freeze did, my 30' rubber tree is dead, so is the red passion vine. Sun-land didn't have any about 2 weeks ago but he was expecting some. Malay apple died but the starfruit has some sprouts. One of the dragon fruit is dead but the other has signs of life at the base.
On the plus side I have iris in bloom!! Not just yellow flag and blue flag either. Real iris, that are supposed to do good in our area and have never bloomed. They are blooming! Woo-hoo!!!
When we finally finish the house we're gonna have a BIG party. Next refund check goes to the outside of the house. I'm never painting or remodeling again in my life!! I'm sick of sawdust. Last night managed to clear out part of the downstairs kitchen, plugged in the stove and cooked dinner. Woo-Hoo!! The sink is so nice. Haven't put stuff back yet cause I gotta paint but only trim and some touch up. About 2-4 hours of interior work still for the guys to do.

got the library painted, the bookcases in there, the books ON the bookcases, everything painted, gotta hang curtains and the guys have to put up some trim and that room is DONE!
I'm off for 6 days and will be finishing the painting, cleaning the kitchen, unpacking the last of the boxes, wiring the speakers-MUSIC!, cleaning, working on closets, staining the railing and the front door, painting the backdoor....
Should be finished in time for hurricane season to start.
    WOO-HOO!!
