Oh, I thought you were talking about yesterday's weather! DH and I went walking early yesterday morning just before the cold front hit. It was sooooo hot and muggy it felt like we were walking through steaming mashed potatoes. Of course, the cold front hit right as were were finising up our walk, covered in sweat. ;-)

Now, about those trains, when I was a kid we lived in Durango Colorado for a few years, and there was a narrow gauge train that went from Durango to Silverton. We got to ride it a couple of times while we were there. It was incredibly fun. Be prepared for soot, though. Definately don't wear your best white clothes. Have fun.

Every time I think of the Silverton/Durango line, I canÂt help by think of something I saw on a program about trains. It was an early film from just after the turn of the century of a train making its way through an area very similar to the Silverton/Durango area.

This train was winding its way through some very rugged, very beautiful scenery. But, to a person, everyone on the train was looking at the camera and waving white handkerchiefs. So novel was the motion picture camera back then that it was a much bigger source of excitement that the scenery was to the people on that train.

Here is a link that might be useful:

I believe it. Even today, if a t.v. camera shows up somewhere, people will be trying to get in front of it.

I re-read your original post. I thought they were letting people ride the train. Hope all of you have fun.
