If you talk to the farmers in Madison county, they'll tell you mt. lions are around. I know a farmer that called the DEC to his property when he saw a mt. lion. He showed the DEC the tracks and told of the damage done to his livestock. The DEC guy said off the record it really did look like damage and tracks that a mt lion would do but on the record, "there are not mt lions in New York," Crazy!
