I would say it is too late unless you are thinking of leaving an area to rest this year. You may want to check with your local Cooperative Extension--unless you already got an answer. I can only think of 'winter' cover crops. Maybe something in the pea family?

well I'm really behind and can't believe I left that garden soil bare last fall. I'm now covering it with dry grass clippings, and hope to get some manure and compost to go over that... My tomatoes need to go in the ground in the next two weeks!
