I also planted some Oakleafs last year. The new ones have been slower to bud out that my established ones. You could try feeding them and spreading compost around them. The food might encourage them bud out.

Hmmm, I was just wondering about my oakleaf hydrangea ('Pee Wee', planted last spring). It's looking pretty sad and dead, and I'm hoping it's just a late starter. I had to transplant it last week (my first choice of location wasn't great), so I amended the soil with compost and organic fertilizer. Here's hoping!
