Hmmm... what's 'glory of the snow'? I just had to ask..Anne-Marie

First off it is not a good idea to cut back any bulb foliage before they yellow and die back naturally. That is how the bulbs gathers it food to store for next years blooms. That said I would place the seed pods on the ground where you would like more of these lovely blue flowers.

Just realized that 'glory of the snow' is chionodoxa... Correct? Have lots of it and love it. I just let the whole plants fade (leaves and pods). For tulips, I read it's better to cut off the faded blooms so that plants can direct their energy into the following year bulbs. But I just let chionodoxa take care of themselves. Love these!

The foliage does not have to e cut back. it will die back by itself. I planted it some years ago and now the entie front woods is a blue carpet and it is spreading into the lawn. To hasten the spread you can scatter the seed pods around.

Waplummer, how long before chionodoxia begins to spread? I planted it three years back and it's still mainly where I put it, kind of scattered in the lawn. I'd love a big blue carpet in early spring, but am too lazy to gather seed and scatter. Is that how you got yours to spread?
