Congratulations, crankyoldman!!!!! I had to check out this apple green variety. Although I'm very traditional in respect to my veggies (tomatoes must be red and eggplants must be 'black" or 'aubergine'), you'll have to report to us what they taste like. I'm actually trying a red variety this year. I don't expect anything for at least another month... Last year, my black ones started producing mid-August... eh.. that's 2 months away!! LOL! Any tomatoes yet?

I sure hope they taste decent. 'Course, by the time they get breaded, pan-fried, covered with sauce and mozzarella and laid on a slab of Italian bread, they could taste like wood and still be delicious.:)

Last year my eggplants were just flowering at the very end of the season. So this year I decided to do everything I could to get actual eggplants. This variety is supposed to be good for short seasons.

I like the purple eggplants too (and the white ones and the purple striped ones, etc.) and also am growing an Italian long purple type called Gitane. No fruit on those yet, and the plants are not as vigorous as the Apple Green. I have never tried the red ones, so I look forward to hearing your report about them. They sure sound pretty.

My tomatoes have lots of flowers but no fruits yet (my peppers are flowering too). I am trying Ceylon again this year, because last year that was the only variety that really produced and it outlasted the bugs and the blight. Ceylon's tangy tomatoes were not pretty to look at - deeply ruffled and many were joined at the hip into tomatoplexes. But they sure were good on tomato sammiches, shlurp. I love summer!
