Mostly roses ...

It's a rainy Saturday and there's not much to do except sort through and post some recent pictures.

This is my favorite Buck rose, and maybe my very favorite rose, but as has been said before you just can't pick a favorite among your children. I love the apricot color with pinkish undertones, the bush has healthy foliage and stays small, blooms frequently and is very fragrant. Prairie Sunrise ...

I love raindrops on roses, but this is a bit much. 'Someone' ;-) needed to give it a good shake before taking its picture ...

Blush Knockout. I guess I'd say it's my favorite Knockout color. Double Red Knockout is in the background ...

Blush Knockout sported from the original bright red Knockout and occasionally sports back. In this case it didn't quite make it all the way -- making for a very interesting rose ...

Lillian Austin is one of the older Austins and named for his mother. It has a very large blossom with a nice tea rose fragrance ...

The resting woman cement figurine keeping Lillian company is 'sporting' blond hair. It's from lichen growing on it because of all the wet weather ...

Dr. Moy of the San Antonio Botanical Garden who is famous for his plate size hibiscus creations also bred several roses. This is his Lotus Rose. When fully open its pointed petals do look like a lotus flower ...

Black iris bud ...

Black foot daisies, four nerve daisies, and snapdragons are still putting on a show ...

My favorite garden sign, "Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."

It gives me license to think, "Oh those weeds and empty nursery pots sitting around -- they are just a few graceful imperfections" ... LOL!

If you've gotten down this far I want to say -- thanks for looking!

Thank you so much for posting these wonderful photos of your garden AND for the information on Prairie Sunrise. I have a couple of Buck roses and I want to acquire more...now I know I will get a PS.

Hi Molly, and thanks for your comments! Having 'been through' a lot of Buck roses I'd like to pass along that "Prairie Harvest", a light yellow, is very good too, though not as fragrant as "Prairie Sunrise".

Also nice IMHO is "Wanderin' Wind". It's a big bush with pink flowers. I'll post pictures later. Both of these have very disease resistant foliage.

I don't have it, but I've been told that "Quietness", a fully double light pink, is excellent and very fragrant. Maybe you have some of these already, but if not you might consider them.

While looking through my albums I came across this picture of "Golden Unicorn", another of my favorites. I lost a lot of good roses from a fertilizing accident in the summer of '08 and didn't replace them, including this one ...

Sorry for the double post. GW said they had rejected the first one because I had posted already. So I changed the subject line and posted again. And then they both appeared!

So they are repeat bloomers, LOL
Roselee, everything is gorgeous. I am so glad you post your wonderful photos and I have Lillian on my wish list
but now I have to check on the *prairies*, lol
    Thanks again
BTW, my sunny knockout is really putting on a show, that I can see through the rain, lol

"Repeat bloomers" LOL ... true in more ways than one. Prairie Sunrise was one that I lost in the summer of '08 and it was given to me along with quite a few more by my friend Linda M. The gophers were killing her many roses.

Another one she gave me is a found rose, Mt. St. Helens Cemetery Tea, which I had given her. It doesn't seem to be in commerce any more and it is a lovely light pink fully double rose with a wonderful fragrance. It has buds so there will be pictures later.

Dang gophers, I could open a nursery with all of the plants they have gotten!!

I will google the Mt St Helens, just because I am curious.
I told Fluffer that if and when I get back into roses, they are only going to be fragrant or I'm attracted to the color or they are perpetual or seasonal bloomers, etc, LMBO

I saw a couple on my list on one of Wilo's list, I wonder if she is a sound sleeper, she does have a least one scary watchdog tho, lol

got four vicious little dogs. (yea, right) my security alarm.

But I am willing to share cuttings. I *know* you know how to take cuttings.

and everytime I hear someone complain about gophers I think of your story of the gopher you did hand-to-hand combat with. Jolana the Gopher Slayer. Maybe that Michelle chick will play you in the tv series. ROFL

Does she take cuttings the same way seed "junp" in her pocket, wilo??? LOL>LOL>LOL>

you know, that is EXACTLY how it is. . . of course, to be honest, I did kinda egg her on. It was my pocketknife. I guess that makes me co-conspirator.

OR .........partners in crime !!! I am surprised she had to borrow a knife though. (grin)!!

It is so good it fools most anti virus and anti malware
In the research since, a lot of people got it from google sites

You have some beautiful roses, and ones I haven't seen before. I'm going to have to remember Prairie Sunrise - I love Buck roses. I envy you your blackfoot daisies. Mine disappeared over the winter, and I can't afford to replace them every year or two at perennial prices. I've noticed some of my iris buds, too, are really beautiful. Almost prettier than the open flower sometimes.
