why do you feel you need heat? worms do fine at a cool room temperature, and when it gets cooler, they migrate inward and down, same as when it gets hotter

are you talking outdoor bin? how cold might it get? usually, at most, folks insulate outdoor bins

you wouldn't want to be applying heat directly to the bedding, so what the worms see isn't relevent, but what they feel certainly is, and bedding cooked dry sure won't feel good

My garage temp is 48 I want happy active worms so I need to get the temp up. I should have pics up soon and you can see what I have going on.

48 isn't that bad, all you need is some insulation

Thanks for the reply bill. Beiing the curious type I have placed one plastic tub in the house (they seem very happy)and One is going in the garage tomarrow. They both have one pound of worms in them and I am curious to see how much temperature affects appetite. I'll keep you posted.
