They wouldn't hurt. I think they would take a while to break down. You could try and post your results.

Usually fats and oils are discouraged because they tend to go rancid before the worms go after them. I don't know if there would be enough residual butter on the wrapper for that to be a problem.

If the butter wrapper is wax paper it might have a better use as a fire starter.

All cardboard and cotton Q tips would certainly breakdown. I however would not like to purchase vermicastings and find one. Nor would I like to be working with my vermicompost and find one. Pretty much after using one I never want to see it again.

Maybe wrap the Q tips with the butter wrapper and use it to start the next wood stove fire.

I'm also not a big fan of vermicomposting dryer lint or vacuum bag contents.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the good ideas! I think I will go ahead and give it a whirl. If the worms don't seem enthused about it, I'll pitch the wrappers etc. into the outside compost pile later this spring. Cheers :)
