would be ok, but if the bin is as wet as it should be the peanuts will just dissolve quickly ... not sure about their 'food value' for worms - I get large quantities of them from a store I get the produce waste from and add them to my hot compost bin - they disappear almost instantly - the finished compost goes into a large worm bin all winter, to be added to the garden in late spring

I do the same as squeeze and add them to the compost bin, and like he said they just dissolve if they get wet so I dont think the worms wold even get a chance to eat them.

I'm reviving this incredibly old topic to report that I have added some cornstarch packing peanuts to my worm bin, and the worms LOVE!!! them. I added just a few at a time to the top of the bedding around the edges, where they would get damp but not dissolve completely right away, and they are attracting clumps of happy worms. The worms stitch themselves right through the peanuts once they get soft enough.

Worm also love corrugated cardboard because the layers are glued together with cornstarch glue. It almost seems like the worms eat the starch itself rather than waiting for other small organisms to grow on it and eating them - but I think it's just that cornstarch supports such incredibly rapid growth of organisms, once it gets wet, that the table is set for the worms right away.

Good to post your experience parsley. I thought they are plastic foam so I always put them out for recycling. Next time I have them I'll check if they dissolve before putting them out at the curb.

I usually get the green ones.
