Hi all!! I have been thinking about starting vermicomposting and have a couple of questions. First, there are only myself and my wife at this point but I do garden and at times, have quite a bit of compostable material. Since there are only two of us, should I just start out with a pound or go for the big 2 pounder? I thought that I can always grab coffee grounds from work and leaves from the compost bin along with anything else from the compost bin if I cannot produce enough of kitchen waste.

Second, I was going to use the plastic rubbermaid containers, should I go bigger or stay on the smaller side? I guess that this may be answered above but thought that I would throw the question out there anyway.

I am hoping to reproduce enough of worms to eventually be able to throw them out into the compost bin during the warm months and grab some excess to bring in during the cold months. Luckily my compost bin outside is made up of 3 4'x4'x4' boxes of wood and wire mesh. I was thinking that once I get a good population of worms going, I can gradually transplant some to the bin that is not in the really warm stage so they can speed up the composting.
