Do you have a basement? I have my bin there for the winter (I live in PA). Perhaps you could bring them in during the hot summers and outside during the winter. Although my wife was initially opposed to bringing my worms inside, there is no smell, and now no hassle. If you can't do that you might want to sink your bin in the ground, in the shade. Good luck!

I've been worm "ranching" for years in kansas where the summers are pretty hot (100+). as long as i keep my bins (rubbermaid tubs in my case) in the shade, they seem to do fine. i keep them under a pine tree in the summer and move them to the basement in the winter.
