This shredded holds a lot of material and is still small enough to sit next to my desk in our home office. It shreds material into very small pieces and rarely jams (only when I get a little overzealous)

I stopped shreding quite a while ago for my worms. I found that the worms attacked the whole paper and large pieces of cardboard quite quickly, and did all the work for me. I'd suggest trying this approach before investing in another shredder.

I have an ATIVA shredder that I got on sale at Office Depot and used a good coupon $10 off $25 purchase. BUT, mostly I HAND shred the newsprint and tear up the papertowel rolls while watching TV! Keeps me from SNACKING!
Toss them in a plastic shopping bag - take it outside and fill part ways with water (those bags have holes on the bottom!!) and squeeze the water out on the grass! Then I have soggy bedding!
Sometimes the newsprint does slow down the shredder. . .

I have a Staples MAILMATE junkmail shredder that I'd like to use to shred some cardboard for initial bedding. The worms may not care, but I'd like the tidy look. (Is that nuts or what?) But I don't want to wreck my cheap shredder. It handles envelopes full of credit card offers just fine. Has anyone used this to shred cardboard?

I shopped ebay, and bought a 10 sheet diamond cut shredder. It's a shhh shredder brand. I got it for under $30. It works great, I have shredded quite a few corrugated(cardboard) boxes. I prefer the corrugated shreds, because they avoid clumping that newsprint seems to do. also when I have added corrugated, the worms liked to hide inside the corrugations. This shredder makes very small "shreds" which makes it easier to look around in the bin (which, I have been told not to do too much). So, hope that helps.

Worms hide in the corrugations where they can sneak up on the bacteria......! On a more serious note, if you want to avoid having to buy a shredder (I used to shred a lot and it took a lot of time). One day I was visiting my Credit Union and they had about 5 good size bags of shredded paper sitting by the back door. Upon further inquiry, I found they were happy to give them to me to keep from carrying them to the dumpster. They all know the wierd things I do in my spare time, such as raise worms, so they knew what I had planned for the paper and they didn't have to worry about any security breech, such as my attempting to put the pieces back together to get info. In fact they will call me to ask if I need any more when they have them, which is quite often (more than I can use).

If you took the time to read the post instead of just posting your inane ad, you would have known that people are asking for recommendations for shredders in order to feed the shredded paper and cardboard to their worms. You ad is neither wanted nor applicable.

I've settled on torn corrugated cardboard too. I tear into pieces two or three inches square, and that size plus the corrugation helps to keep more air in the compost. These days I do almost equal parts by volume of food and cardboard.

My pieces may be coarser than necessary, but the very fine confetti-like output that you want for security's sake from a shredder will, as others note, tend to clump when moist.

(Re shredders, it's great to hear that people have found bargains and it's probably worth checking Craiglist and ebay and so forth. After going through four or five over the last decade, my own experience, FWIW, is that the cheap ones have such meager rates of flow that you end up not using them -- or they break. We've ended up with a powerful Fellowes MS-460Cs, which is almost as convenient as tossing stuff in the wastebasket.)
