as long as you don't overdo either enough to cause heating in the wormery, they're fine - you'll find the grains will go better if you soak them for a period beforehand to make them more amenable to microbial activity - some folks keep rabbits in wire bottom cages over a worm bin, I did it for awhile with a hare someone found in the yard and gave to me

rabbits are indoor also :) wife wanted one and so somehow we eneded up with two for pets. she wouldn't take too fond though of the wire bottom. but thankfully they are litter trained so easy enough with that.

one other question I have though is yeast energizer and yeast nutrient. I have some that is a little older and wonder if that would be of any use. from my understanding (though grain of salt required here) is that it is mostly just nitrogen in there.

energizers are normally B vitamins - the nutrient could be di-ammonium phosphate [called DAP], quite similar to chemical N fertilizer, not good unless you want to heatup the bin! I don't think either of them get "outdated" for brewing, neither very useful for worms
