Don't worry, the worms will sort it out. Put them in and let them alone for a couple of days. I guess that you will be pleasantly surprised.

I was actually at a home and garden show and saw pre-made bins for sale. My girlfriend has a compost bin in the back yard, but never really tended it to get a benefit from it (just doing it so that the material didn't go to a landfill).

I'd always wanted to try worm-boxes, so this seemed like a good time. I bought a plastic, pre-made bin with ample holes and already with damp bedding (all in one kit) inside. With some stacking, it looks like my worm farm will be easily expandable.

Unless the bin heats up, which isn't likely, mixing the food with the bedding is fine. There are some foods that should probably not be mixed in, due to their tendency to heat up, like grains or grass clippings, but most kitchen scraps won't heat up when mixed with the bedding.
