I ordered from wormsway.com, 3/11/09, and 1 week later received a heavy box of cocoons and dirt-like bedding. $37 USD for 750 cocoons, including shipping - EN. The cocoons are tiny!! I bought these for the purpose of populating my yard/garden. I've read that worms that have hatched in my yard are more likely to thrive, vs. worms added post hatching. My goal was to hatch this batch and then retrieve their cocoons for my yard/garden; in theory, this way I would end up with many more worms then if I had purchased worms. This process of hatching and then retrieving the next batch of cocoons may take so long, I'm now thinking of placing the purchased cocoons in my yard when the weather cooperates.

I annually, sometimes bi-annually, spend about $40 on bait night crawlers and have done so for 6 years. When expanding my veggie garden this past spring, I found only 2 night crawlers. My yard has far more organic material then my neighbors' so I'm thinking the worms didn't leave for better surroundings, but just failed to survive?? The robins do line up, and squawk to their friends, for the ritual worm toss.

I am hoping this $40 will be a much better investment and yield viable worms that stay, thrive and multiply.

Any thoughts?
