No, I want to avoid them at all cost because I don't know if they are seeds from hybrids. I let hybrid seeds take off before and the tomatoes were really terrible!

Oooo, never head of that before! I used to grow big boys and sweet 100s until I discovered heirlooms last year. Now I have all of the plants that I need without any intruders. The hybrid seed I let grow before produced this big beautiful fruit that was mealy and nasty tasting.

The worms go wild over tomato trimmings but I never knew that they would bypass the seeds after being in a squirmy tangle for a week after that fruit was added.

At least you know the tomatoes you were eating were probably not irradiated. You often see banks of tomato plants at the outlet of sewage farms - tough little buggers aren't they?

Yes, tomato and potato are related an can pollinate each other. That's why you should never plant potatoes and tomatoes together.

I read on the seed starting forum about plants coming up in the yard as a result of someone having work done on their septic. That made my day.

Anyway, been transplanting seedlings lately and and I am running out of potting mix. I might have to give the barrel another good raking today. Little guys are finally starting to pay the rent.

I should have said certain tomato and potato plants can, under certain circumstances, pollinate each other since they belong to the family. The resultant fruit (tomato-like) may be poisonous if consumed in large quantities.
