relocating some worms

So my worm bin is doing really well, the rice mold issue has passed and the worms are really thriving. I've also noticed an abundance of cocoons.

I have a raised garden bed, 14x6x2 feet filled with top notch soil and compost (purchase, unfortunately, that's a big bed!)

I was wondering how successful I'd be if I moved a handful of my worm bin into a hole in my garden. Will they survive? Will they thrive? Will the tilled in compost not be enough food for them?

If this would bring about huge benefits to my garden (as their vermicastings in my worm bin will eventually) - then it'd certainly seem worth it to split up the clan.
