I use it as a 20% addition to my starting mix, add to the top of household plants and will be adding when we plant potatoes later today. And all transplants, now that I have enough. Also VC tea - little kids love the idea of spraying plants with worm poo.

Never occurred to me to that kids would enjoy that. When the grand-nieces and nephews come, that's a great idea! I know they'll love examining it too, as when I did it a few years back, I found it fascinating. They'll love the little eggs, the tiny clear worms�woo, it will be an education! I'll supervise of course to prevent harm to the worms from too much interest. ;)

Alan, patrick and equinox x2, have hit it on the head. I have about 6000 sq ft of garden space and I use my worm media, worms included, when planting squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, or anything which requires digging a hole. I go through a lot of media or vermicompost during the planting phase of my garden. Since I haven't any indigenous worms the red wigglers serve as a temporary substitute for sod worms.

I would strongly suggest saving the finished vermicompost as equinox suggests and using it very sparingly for germination or potting mixes. You will never have enough of this black gold!

can I use it as a top dressing around my veggies

If you have a lot, sure. Maybe put wet mulch over it. The value it has is in the microbes. They need moisture and oxygen. Lucky veggies.
