You don't need to put out money for buckets. Go to a bakery that does their own baking and ask if they have any buckets to give away. The fruit fillings for pastry come in large (approx. 5-gal.) plastic pails with resealable lids. The plastic is food-safe, which is a plus, so that you know what was in there before you got it. The bakeries usually throw or give them away, or sell for a small fee. I have a couple places I frequent and get all I want for free.

The restaurants you p/u your wormfood should have 5 gal buckets from mayo, oil, & as tai-tai mentioned, pickles. Yoghurt also come in 5 gal. buckets. At one time, I got 5 clean yoghurt buckets w. lid from the recycling depot.
