plant suggestions

I have two areas I need suggestions on:

area 1: front bed, full southern sun, low water

I have two carpet roses in a space 3x4 feet. Moving them into the next area. area is framed with daylilies in back with double knockouts behind, and pink gaura next to the area on sides, followed by daylilies. I need pinks, purples, maybe whites. Want to put in annuals here, which I will repeat across the rest of the front bed. I will be putting in a soaker hose, so there will be a little more water, but low requirements better. I'm a perennial girl, so need ideas for annuals. I know begonias would do just fine, is that my best bet or is there something more interesting out there?

area 2:

backyard, rectangle framed by patio on one side, fence on the other, lengthwise. in the top left corner looking from the patio, I have a camellia witth three ferns in front. This area stays shaded. Unfortunately, the rest of the garden is full shade til April, then it goes full texas sun. at the back of the fence, I have a black and blue sage, which will go 4-5 feet. at the bottom right corner, I have the new ground cover loropetalum, the plan sort looks like this (hope the spaces stay)

CAM fern B&B sage ? ?

fern ? carpetrose cf crapemyrtle

fern carpetrose loropetalum cf abelia

cf=coneflower, everything looks in a line, but not in person. as you can see, I have a gap probably 4x4 between the ferns and the rose to fill with soemthing taller than the rose, but smaller than the sage, partial to full sun. Thought about sticking nandina in so I would have something for winter, or finding another abelia I love (have kaleidsoscope and a golden one), and always wanted a weigelia. or some tall sage perennials? What would you do? Also need a short, 3x3 or so bush for behind the crape myrtle. Plan on wandering Northhaven soon, but wanted to see what the experienced folks here might suggest first....
