Sounds like you just need to keep adding it to the garden. I have beed adding 20 or more pickup truck loads a year of sawdust and mulch to my 30 by 60 garden for 10 years and still need more to keep up with it going away every year due to the organic breakdown. It just never seems to get any deeper. I till it up regularly, that speeds up the process quite a bit. You have to add a some nitrogen only fertalizer to it as the organic breakdown uses up the nitrogen from the ground.

Give it away? Are there any community gardens in your area? If you find the right gardener that would love your compost materials, you might get some good veggies in trade. Most people who compost on an urban lot are lacking browns for their compost bins. I don't think you would have any trouble getting rid of your excess. Find some local people doing worm composting, they would probably especially love to have the rabbit droppings/wood chips.

If I was in Utah I would take it off your hands.

Also try freecycle.org if you're looking to give it away. There is always someone there who will take it off your hands.

Grow mushrooms- fungus is what you need to really chew up wood shavings. This site sells info and inoculoants for all sorts of useful and yummy shrooms. Interesting stuff in "Mycelium Running" about using fungi in the environment.

Mushrooms arent really an option ... but its a great idea. It looks like I may need to post on the compost section to try and get some takers.
Also going to try increasing the types of worms I have working and see if any does it any faster. Ill also probably precompost the majority of the material (it heats up without any help).

Bryan..Would Black Soldier Fly larvae work as food? If you want a creature that will compost OM there is nothing better, IMHO. I know they use them to fish with. These creatures are being set up in bins all over the country because of their voracious appetites. They also eat raw OM, meaning they do not need anything to break it down for them. They are also then ground up as a protein feed for (maybe) chickens. If interested I can put you in touch with people doing this.

Is it hardwood or softwood that you are dealing with?
