Small, hot microclimate- container flower options?

I have a couple little corners outside the house that I'd like to put vining flowers in. Ideally I'd like to build a small (18"x18") planter with trellising on two sides, which would fit neatly into a corner between two exterior walls.

I haven't done it yet because hubby has wondered if the spots wouldn't get blistering hot. The corner I have in mind is south facing and I think it probably traps a LOT of heat. The siding is cream, so it reflects light.

Is there a way to make this work, or is this kind of a location just better left alone? Is it as big of a deal as I think it is? The trellised container would look so nice there, I hate to not at least get some input from you folks on it. :-)
