springtails aren't usually impotant, and they're also not particularly important, just one of many decomposer organisms that can be found anyplace there's moist decomposing organic material

there's really only one basic process that makes vermicomposting work - the reduction of organics thru oxidation by the biologic activity of mostly microbial organisms - the worms feed on the microbes

springtails will inhabit the bin if they find it [or if you've "imported" some] because it provides an ideal habitat for them, particularly with respect to the moisture - if you want to eliminate them you'd need to get the bin much drier, and the worms wouldn't like that either
