In a vegetable garden flies are a good thing. They pollinate your plants so you get fruit. Certain of the flies are also predators to the more typical "bad bugs" such as aphids (ladybugs), and various defoliating caterpillars (some wasps).

Especially with lure traps, even though you are capturing many bugs, you may be luring in more than would normally be around anyway.

A more effective approach in the long run would be to add a pond feature to your garden, to encourage frogs to move in and help balance out a possible excess of flies.

You might also examine your situation to find a source of the excess of flies. Is there a soil condition or other problem near your garden area that could be causing a larger than normal number of flies to congregate?
