I'm going to go with a pretty drastic solution here. Do you use your vermicompost outside? If so I would harvest all the worms. Then I would put the harvest in your garden. Then clean out the bin and start with fresh bedding. Maybe cover the bin with shear curtain material for up to a month. I am thinking they might be fungus knats. Either way you get to use your vermicompost. Keep your worms and possibly get rid of the fungus knats. Maybe keep the bin on the dryside especially at the top for a month. Also fungus knats might like drains. So maybe run hot water through them. Also check your refrigerator drain pan and clean. The only thing lost is the worm eggs.

Oh fungus knats, I'd get them even before any worm bins, They also like to live in houseplants where the top of the soil is kept moist (most people overwater). The only way I got them out of the plants is to have self watering pots and always water from the bottom allowing the top to stay bone dry.

And yeah, might want to transfer to a new bin, new material. You can get some netting for cheap, usually sold to cover park benches etc although that's a ton of the stuff. What you don't want is for the gnats to get into the new bin and restart the whole process.

Maybe with the weather, you can put the bin outside again, get the house clear, and when fall comes around then move them into a new bin and bring it inside.
