First of all: remember, flowers draw bees and bees sting - not a good thing.

I would recommend something such as ivy, that doesn't flower. You would need to wind the ivy thru the support, but at least it would be safe.

Also...please consider that snakes hover in vines..had to put that two cents in because of your baby girl. If you must, the silverlace vine, morning glory and sweet autumn clematis will work well.

Silver lace and SAC both draw bees like crazy - please don't plant these where children are playing. If it blooms, it will draw bees, wasps, spiders and other crawling things. If flowers are a must, use SILK flowers!

Here in MA wasps love to build nests in most any type of vine. Of course being wasp'O'phobic I tend to find them everywhere! I'd be very cautious about planting any vine near a childs playhouse!

As much as I enjoy having wasps and bees in my garden areas, my first thought when I saw this post was the potential for problems. Bees wouldn't worry me much as I've learned that when they are out foraging, they could be less interested in human activity near them. Very active children might present a problem, though.

However, it is the wasps that would worry me. Their nest building activity under the protection of the vine could mean a population of highly territorial, therefore aggressive wasps! In my experience, wasps will zero in on any kind of vine and attempt to set up housekeeping.
