hi betty, I think it was me that suggested the top feeding and it really does make it easy to see what they are up to with their food when you do it that way. glad to hear everything is going well, once you get the conditions right its all pretty much plain sailing with worms. before you know it you will have some lovely castings to use in the garden. :)

I bury the food in the corners of the bin, and the worms can go to it when they are finished with the current corner.

I've always avoided leaving food on the top because I felt it attracted critters like flies and noctural explorers, but the newspaper is a good idea to help with that concern.
