cutting back a Mandevilla

I was given a Mandevilla (pink- I have no idea what variety) two summers ago. It seems to really enjoy the summer on the back deck in full sun, and bloomed like mad for me. This winter I cut it back to about 4 feet, and put it in a very sunny spot in my kitchen. It is right up against a pair of windows, so the spot is coolish (Toronto area...cold). I expected the silly thing to do what it had done before: namely sulk, throw brown leaves on the floor in disgust, and wait ( like all of us up here) for spring. Instead it has grown, to the point that some stems are spiralling on the ceiling, and others have attempted to climb into my kitchen cupboards.

Here's my question: when I finally help it escape back onto the sunny deck it so loves and misses, do I cut it back? If so, how far? I'd hate to overdo it and reduce the summer flowering. Also, should I pot it up a size, or leave it in the container it has been in for the past two years?

Many thanks for any help you can give.
