LOL - if you planted P. incarnata with your Kudzu, you would need to move to another state - they are both the bane of humanity! Instead of planting another thug, go to your county agent's office and ask how they recommend you eradicate the Kudzu.

NOTHING will smother out kudzu. I'm not certain even fire will kill it!

But I wouldn't call P incarnata a 'bane of humanity', either. Yes, it's vigorous and seeds itself around. but it's relatively easy to kill and lovely and fragrant where you leave it alone. I always leave several in my garden every year.

LOL, Ms.batt! Varying opinions are allowed - my experience with incarnata must be vastly different than yours! Besides, "bane of humanity" (for me), is a 'nice' way of saying 'this plant is THE ONE for you (my worst enemy!). Yes, P. incarnata is pretty, smells good, draws the hummers and butterflies, but will it cover everything within 10 miles? YES! Will you EVER be able to get rid of in? NO! If you have a Texas-sized ranch, I would say go ahead and plant some - if not, just beware - it will take over your world!

I tried the kudzu game last year, but I decided to get maypop seeds this year. Sounds like I won't have big problem getting them going.
