Vines on brick

Hello,

I'm buying an older 2-story brick home. The front facade is a bit bare and I'd like a simple vine or two to break up the surface. Because of logistics, training onto wires etc. isn't an option. So I'm wondering about Boston Ivy or Virginia creeper. But my questions is about the little suction cups with which both vines cling to surfaces. Are they likely to damage the brick or mortar in the long run?

Grateful for input, Gardenwheels
