Wisteria

I am building an arbor and I wanted to plant Wisteria. I love the look and can manage what is above ground, but what about below the ground surface. Are the roots, below, as aggressive as the vines above? I have lateral lines about five feet from the spot I want to plant. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
