IMHO, it would be Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) - the flowers smell devine and the flowers are also edible. It is VERY invasive, though, so plant with care.

I planted a Hall's Honeysuckle (Lonicera Japonica) 2 years ago and it does smell wonderful.Fortunately I have it planted where it can grow uninhibited,and it has grown to quite a size.I am really looking forward to enjoying the fragrance this year.I might also add that it seems to be impervious to insects in my garden,no damage so far from that source.
I saw this vine growing in a greenhouse in Kew Gardens, London. U.K. It was at least 20ft - 25ft tall and in full bloom. The fragrance was incredible,and I was hooked.

Thanks for your thoughts. I live in Tennessee and there is a wonderful wild honeysuckle, white blooms, that bloom on the roadsides. I bet this is what it is. I'm scared to plant it in my little garden because it is a spreading "weed" here. Thank you again. Rosie

Yes, that's L. japonica you're seeing growing wild in TN. It's lovely, smells even better than it looks---but you CANNOT contain it. It makes seeds that the birds scatter everywhere. If you don't already have it in your garden, just wait---you will. (*grin*)

The Chinese make a medicinal tea from the blossoms.

It can be a tree killer, but it's not all that bad. I have it covering my mini gazebo.

I love it; it is worth the bother to me, but I try to keep it isolated.
