Finally Wisteria Buds!

Well I have waited four years for my Japanese and Chinese Wisteria to bloom! Both have at least 30 buds as of today. We are having a mini heat wave; today it will be 83 degrees. Tomorrow it will probably snow!!! High of 47, 29 degrees will be the low. What can I expect for my little buds? will they die? They are way up on arbors on either side of my deck. I don't think I can cover them as they have been sprawling out above the deck these past four years. I'm just curious as to the destiny of my little buds. Will I just have to kiss them goodbye this year?

I am not sure if your buds will survive the frost or not. If they are in a sheltered microclimate area they just might make it. Mine bloomed all the way into July last year (although not as prolifically as in April) so even if some buds do get killed off, you might still get a later bloom. Mine look a bit shrivelled now but I have known them to shrivel up then unfurl again when the temps rise. Fingers crossed and good luck!

Does anyone know if there is a late blooming wisteria? Mine always blooms way too early.
