blue moon wisteria

happy spring!! last fall i planted a blue moon wisteria and this spring i noticed there is only a stick coming out of the ground. its a very young plant but will it start growing or did something eat the vines that were coming from it last fall? should i leave it alone and see what happens? the stick is about 5"... any help would be appreciated. it was planted very near my arbor so it can grow on it. thanks!!

I was wonderinging if blue moon is the hardiest of all wisteria and if I'm able to plant and let it grow in a large pot on my deck up the pergola. I heard that it had to be planted in the ground??

It's from Minnesota, so it should be hardy to at least 20 degrees below zero. I would tell you to just leave it alone and see what it does. You are in zone 4, where it's still very cool.

Bunnies and/or deer liked to eat my mom's seedling blue moon. She discovered that soap shavings would keep them away.
