This refers to Kelly Slocum. She is a wealth of information regarding vermicomposting. She normally ghosts the boards and adds inputs where ever myths or misconceptions creep up. And adds much needed input.

I also was starting to wonder where she had gotten off to.

Im glad I finally found the forums where you are most active. I've read ,with interest, your posts on worm digest and maybe a few on worms.com but all I could do was ghost along. Now that I found you on garden web - i had a hard time becomming a member=
anyway, what I would like to say is I enjoy your personality, perspective, and common sense when it comes to worms. don't be shy let us have looooong dicertations.
we like hearing from you = besides I'm kinda fond of you and I do learn a lot.

On a lighter note-do you have any suggestions for me wanting to grow bait sized worms - I've considered ENCs but reproductive rate is slow-am very interested in pheretima hawayana /Amynthas gracillus. relatively same size worm but with birth rates similar to African night crawlers. They may need deeper bins than what I'm using now. currently i have eiseina fetida in the dining room (they like the cool there)

Bruce ... I raise ENC's ... part of the reason was to use them for fishing.

After quite a few side by side comparisons id have to say that ENC's would not be a good choice for bait. Fished side by side (my wife and I), in same depth, same setup, etc. My wife caught more than triple the number of fish i did (she used canadian nightcrawlers) on 5 different trips to 3 different locations.

ENC's were rumored to produce a fish attractant. Whoever came up with that idea should reconsider their theory.

The fish in my aquarium (and turtles) really dont show a preference as to species.

Glad you're back. I know you have lots of posts to catch up on...about mostly too: wet, dry, hot, cold, crowded, icky, smelly, slow, how much: moisture, food, bedding, TLC, how do I: separate, add bedding, build the bin, keep em in, make em eat, when will the babies come, what are: these white, black, crawly, ugly, nasty, yucky things in the bin, can I feed them: leaves, baby food, carpet bag contents, human: hair, fecal matter, nails, cadavers, poop from: cats, dogs, rabbits, goats, horses, cows, aliens, illegal aliens, zoo animals, meat: products, by-products, sauces, pies, fried, baked, seasoned, sauted, metal: tea bag staples, small tacks, tapes, heavy-metal tapes.

Other than that, it's been all about too: hot, little rain, many mosquitoes, little mulch, many bugs, slugs, rats and cats, possums, armadillos and coons.

The chemo folks are still that. Organic fanatics naturally.....natural.
