I happened by a Starbucks yesterday and decided to support their coffee ground giveaway program by picking some up. They gave me a garbage bag full of their weird little pelleted coffee ground things, some beans and a couple milk jug caps.

I ringed the foundation under all the doors as an ant barrier, added some to worm bins and put the rest in a big plastic tub. I've been saying I was going to do this for a while and I'm glad I finally did, but I do have one question.

Their coffee grounds have a ton of whole coffee beans in them. Maybe 20% of the total volume if I had to guess. I sifted them out before adding them to the bins because I thought they might take a long time to break down. I know that they'll break down sooner or later but I'm a big fan of sooner since my bins are pretty close to needing new bedding.

Has anyone ever added whole beans to their bins and if so how long do they take to break down?
