No. I use 2-hose aquarium pumps also. They supply plenty of O2....especially if you brew in gallon jugs. I have 5 of them (2 hoses for each gallon jug).

The bubble action is, of course, vertical, so 2 hoses in a gallon milk jug disperse bubbles more efficiently to the entire jug.

Also, the gallon jugs are: portable, shakeable, easy to clean, and convenient.

Sometimes when I brew 5 gallon jugs of tea, I stagger the start times of each jug by an hour or two which gives me wiggle room when dispersng the tea.

Awesome. Thanks for posting the picture. I've been thinking about doing half pail but get greedy for volume every brew. I will go for the gal jug. It seems your method should yield a more potent brew. Looks like 3 hoses or is it optical illusion.

That pic shows 3 hoses because when I stagger the starting times I begin with 3 jugs/6 hoses. When the first jug is taken off the air those 2 hoses are added to the remaining 2 jugs..

I don't believe you can introduce too much O2 unless there is excessive turbulence which could rip up the biology.
