it might be. it's a little bigger than my red wigglers but smaller than the panfish trout worms i have too. they may very well be in there having a snack. they won't hurt anything and if they're outside already, they're winter hardy. i say just leave them be. when they don't like it there anymore, they'll leave. i wouldn't bring them inside though for a bin. i would go with the tried and true worker worms.

I don't think so. It looks like a ground dwelling worm the flat tail is not like the compost worms I am familiar with. However If you have time you could try to get a herd going. They might work great

I don't know. But then again even closer up, clearer pictutres may not help. I do not even know what type I have. To specifically know probably takes lab diagnosis.
They look friendly and nice. If they are from a compost heap maybe give them a chance. Practice with them and then after you have gotten the process down right if you feel you need $$specific types order from $$specific type places.

Hi All; The worm is probibly in the Lumbriscus family of worms. I cannot see a clitellum in the photos so it leads me to think juvinile. If it grows larger say 4 inches plus and still no ciltellum it is probibly a terrestris or Lt. If it develops a clitellum while smaller 3.5-4 inches it is probibly a rubella. The worms have similar phiscal features such as the flat tail. Similar coloring with a bluish irridescent sheen. The rubellus is a red worm and is called locally a marsh worm/leaf worm and will be larger than a normal composting worm. the Lt is a little tricker to keep and propigate in a bin environment. The worms both species like it cooler than the top composting worms and the flat tail helps them to hold onto the tunnel they live in. Both are soil dwelling species in the wild.
