Hi all,

I planted 4 pallets of dwarf mondo grass in my shady front yard about a month ago, and many are already turning brown. I suspect that our dog and cats are partially responsible for this: They're definitely pulling some of the little plugs out and by running across the yard, and I've seen them "relieve" themselves in the area.

In any case, I really want to fill in the space with a resilient, low-growing green plant and the mondo just seems too delicate. The City of Austin recommends Berkeley Sedge for shade. I've seen it around and it looks lovely. Does anyone have experience or recommendations for using it to fill in a fairly large flat area?

Also, I haven't seen any for sale at the local nurseries. Since I'll probably be purchasing a lot, I'd love to find a cheap local source!
