If it is happy, it can cover the whole side of a house! LOL

There is a house near where I live where a few years ago, the owners planted some in pots on both sides of their open front porch. They attached some netting or mesh between the overhang and porch rail (the part facing the front) and allowed the 2 mandies to climb that (mandies are twiners). By the time we got frost, the vines had completely covered the support on their porch and the entire thing was covered in pink blooms, which made a pretty privacy screen. The bigger the container, the bigger they can get!

I would let it grow on a trellis as it could very well outgrow the average garden obelisk. The only other thing is that where you live, you may get a frost earlier and that would cut its season short. However your longer hours of sun in summer will probably send it into overdrive, so I expect it will all even out with the growth anyway. :-D
