Bougainvillea is a flowering vine that you can train on a trellis or fence for a landscape accent. The plant is native to South America and grows as an outdoor perennial in U.S. Department of Agriculture hardiness zones 9 through 11.

Bougainvillea is sensitive to cold and frost and should be protected or taken indoors when these conditions occur. Training the bougainvillea vines keeps them under control for an attractive color display in your yard.

Bougainvilleas like to dry out between waterings...but not days of bone dry. If they happen to lose their leaves...you can adjust watering...for a plant without foliage needs less water.

I use Bougain BGI's bougainvillea food on my bougainvillea bonsai. I got it last fall...wintered it in my sunroom. Keeping temps from dropping to cold. Lowest was 59 F and it kept it's leaves. I notice more leaf drop after a full bloom...then...it bounces back with foliage and bracts once more.
